November the 2nd

By Eduardo Corona

It is November the 2nd and the time is filled out of a mixed scent of cempasuchil flowers, mole, pulque, tequila and cigars, also there is a scent of  veladoras and the dust from the Saints and the pictures which remind us those who already left to get ready the road for the ones that will meet them later; we do not forget them, here we have their favorite plate and drink, their music, we know the comeback road from the Mictlan is a long journey, so we throw a festival to welcome the travelers, the Todos Santos parish church also have a scent of gunpowder from the fireworks that will fly up with a loud and trembling explosion, they celebrates our dead ones and our alive ones, it is a call for the Almighty Consecration in the Altar during the Mass and the sky colors imitate our altar colors which we fixed to our dead ones to be happy with us: papel picado flags, sugar calaveritas and pan de muertos and often we place La Catrina in order to do not forget that once she will come to get us all…
